Mache Puppet Heads
Obviously we need a starting place so you can either inflate a balloon to the size you want, build a basic looking clay head, or start with a styrofoam ball. Cover with alternating layers of brown paper, a layer of newspaper, and a layer of brown paper. Alternately use cheap paper towels and newspaper (and I mean cheap, the expensive stuff just doesn't work). Tear the paper into pieces the size of your thumb and apply with a paintbrush dipped in a mix of equal parts white glue and water. I used to use wallpaper paste but I've found it attracts vermin. Don't bother waiting for the layers to dry,just keep going until your done. You need to let this dry, a fan helps, but a word of warning, if you used a ballon make sure the room stays the same temperatur until the paper's dry. If it gets cold the ballon shrinks and you'll end up with a prune, if it gets hot the ballon inflates and pops and you end up with a, well a plop.
