So who the heck is the Professor Peter Puppet?
Pete's Bio
I was born in the year of Sputnik
in a small rural town in Washington State. While just a mere sprout of a boy

I made several sock puppets, violating my mothers button jars for supplies. Suitable punishment was handed down in the form of my having to teach my Cub Scout troop how to make puppets. After a thorough trouncing (boys just didn't sew in 1963) I went under ground with my puppeting and figure making and joined a rock band to cover up.
Anyhow I became fascinated with all the ways to make little people and to make little characters out of them. I went through a brief love affair with marionettes in college before setting it all aside to become a full time father

and theatrical designer. The puppet fetish smoldered and our Halloween displays danced and shook with many an extravagant creature as my puppet library grew. It wasn't until many years later that, while working as Technical Director for The Black River Theater Company production of The Tempest that I again got to make some puppets for the stage. Paul Moser, the director of The Tempest and company owner liked my work and a year later offered me the teaching position at Oberlin College that I held for five years. This was a marvelous opportunity to actually read all those books I'd been collecting and to try to create puppet-building systems that I could teach effectively.
In 2005 I decided I really wanted to be out standing in my field
I joined Wood and Strings Puppet Theater out of Nashville, Tenn. A wonderful year of touring and performing ensued

In 2006 I relocated to Asheville, North Carolina to join The Red Herring Puppets.

While still performing with Red Herring, I've started The Shaky Hand Puppet Band, collaborating with musician Todd "Rooster Scratch" Jones. Through out it all Ive continued performing my own puppet work and story telling as
Professor Peter Puppet
So if your ever in the area and feel like manipulating some little people stop by and lets see what we can cook up.
